Breaking Fast with Royal Holloway University Students

As Salaam Aleikum
My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Prophet (saw) said, ‘Whoever feeds a person breaking his fast will earn the same reward as him, without anything being lessened from the reward of the fasting person.’ [Tirmidhi]

SubhanAllah, this is an amazing example of Allah’s mercy and generosity. Giving iftar not only means another person can share in Ramadan’s blessings – it also doubles the reward of your own fast.

During this blessed month Allah has again granted Runnymede Muslim Society the honour of giving iftar to Royal Holloway University students, and we saw an unprecedented number attend our iftars. These were sponsored by businesses & families who wished to partake in the rewards.

Many people find the thirst of Ramadan more challenging than the hunger. So the Prophet’s promised that, one day, you ‘shall never again feel thirsty’ is particularly motivational!

We would like to thank all of the RHUL organisers & volunteers for giving us this opportunity.
On behalf of the Trustees, we would like to thank everyone who contributed towards them, the organisers, sponsors, volunteers & donors.

May Allah bless you all & multiply your rewards in this blessed month.
Please remember us in your duas.

JazakAllah Khair

Chairman Announcement – The purchase of our new building

As Salaam Aleikum

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On the 21st June 2023, we delivered the sad news about the loss of Barons Court. And with only around £400k in the account, it seemed like a lost cause.

However, as Allah says in the Qur’An (after hardship comes ease). We knew Allah was testing our perseverance, we worked extremely hard. And today, on this blessed 12th Ramadan, we gather with hearts full of gratitude and joy to Allah and you as our witnesses to share the good news. In just under 9 months, we raised the remaining funds, procured our building, and are pleased to inform you that we have today exchanged and completed.

This, my brothers & sisters, is nothing short of a miracle. It is a testament to the unwavering dedication of everyone who worked hard to achieve this, and the boundless mercy of Allah SWT. Takbir!!

In terms of next steps, we eagerly await the outcome of our planning application. Where we will need the help of every nearby resident to write in support to the council. Given that last time it took 8 months to complete, this could go on for several months. May Allah make it easy for us. In the meantime we will leave the tenant in situ to allow us to continue to get rent.

Finally, the building is structured as an office building, which means that we will need to refurbish it completely to turn it into an Islamic Community Centre and look for a dedicated qualified Imam.

May Allah bless our endeavors, protect our community, and grant us the strength to continue striving for excellence. Together, with faith as our compass and perseverance as our guide, there is no limit to what we can achieve.

JazakAllah Khair
