Early 1990s
Parents do the khutbah and lead Jumuah prayers
1995
Islamic Welfare Association of West Surrey (IWAWS) established alongside Camberley Islamic Association

Al Bayan School started By Sami and Nadia El Taji and Abdul Majid Hawa. (Later run by Sami and Nadia El Taji.)

Agreement with RHUL: Plan for Islamic Centre on campus. Sadly, remained fulfilled.

Abdul Majid gets Runnymede Borough Council to allocate a Muslim burial ground in Englefield Green.

We hold Open Days at Literary Institute in Egham We set up and fund the 1st Muslim Chaplaincy at RHUL

The Jamia Masjid & Islamic Centre prides itself in being actively involved in helping the local community, and offers the following services:

  • Janaaza (Funeral Prayer).
  • Nikkah (Islamic Marriage Ceremony).
  • Advice session for health and well-being (every Friday after Jummah Prayer).
  • Advice session for finance (every Friday after Jummah Prayer).
  • Help and support on a wide variety of matters (provided they are relevant).
  • Organised visits from schools in the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire counties.
  • Multi/Inter-Faith visits and meetings.
  • Visits by multiple agencies for educational purposes.

The Masjid is also registered with the Slough Register Office (Slough Borough Council).
